Australian Council of Churches
Variant namesThe Australian Section of the World Council of Churches was founded in 1946 as an expression of Ecumenical Movement in Australia. Its aims & activities include promotion of Christian unity, evangelism & service to the community, education, missions & overseas aid, race relations, Aboriginal welfare & youth affairs. In 1960 its name was changed to Australian Council of Churches and in 1994 changed to the National Council of Churches of Australia.
