United Way of Greater New Haven
Community Chest, New Haven, Conn., was incorporated in 1920. It was formed to raise money for charitable purposes and distribute funds either directly or to other agencies, Its name was changed to United Fund of Greater New Haven in 1951; in 1971 this merged with Community Council of Greater New Haven and name was again changed to United Way of Greater New Haven.
