Crackanthorpe, William

William Crackanthorpe (1790-1888), of Newbiggin, Westmorland, was first cousin of William Wordsworth. His father Christopher Crackanthorpe (earlier Cookson) (1745-1799) was brother of Wordsworth's mother Ann, and guardian of the Wordsworth children. Wordsworth's elder brother Richard Wordsworth (d.1816) was Christopher Crackanthorpe's executor; his younger brother Christopher Wordsworth (1774-1846) studied at Cambridge and later became Master of Trinity College. Mrs Crackanthorpe's brother-in-law was William Cookson (1764-1852), Canon of Windsor.
