Marks, Harriet E.
Variant namesHarriet Marks taught History at Herschel V. Jenkins High School in Savannah, Georgia. From 1962-1963 her class undertook a group historical research project to learn about the history of the doorway. This scrapbook is the final product of that project. The house the doorway belonged to was built by Thomas Gibbons in 1796 and originally stood at 1 West Broad Street in Savannah, Georgia. The doorway was installed in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1927 after being purchased in 1916 from the Artley Company. It in the Greek Revival style.
