New York State Common Cause

As the state chapter of Washington, D.C.-based Common Cause, this 35,000 member citizen-lobbying group has helped pass legislation dealing with ethics in government, campaign finance reform, political-action committees, civil service reform, election law reform, open government, and other issues. It has had headquarters in Albany but currently has offices in New York City.
