American Sheep Industry Association
Variant namesThe American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) was a national organization that represented and defended the interests of the sheep and wool industries. It was established in 1989 by a merger between the American Sheep Producers Council (founded 1955) and the National Wool Growers Association (founded 1865). ASI was a federation of 45 state sheep associations. Its main objectives were to promote wool and lamb, provide resources for sheep producers, and represent the sheep industry in federal legislation. The American Wool Council and the American Lamb Council were divisions of ASI.
