Cotton manufacturer, Holyoke, Mass. Organized in 1854 by separating the textile manufacturing business of the Hadley Falls Co. (organized 1832) into a separate firm. Hadley Falls Co. continued to handle water power, machine shop and real estate. It failed in 1859 and was succeeded by Holyoke Water Power Co. The Lyman Mills produced lawns, fancy dress goods, and drills. Liquidation of the firm began in 1927 and was complete in 1936.
