Born in Ohio. Married Margaret Talbott in 1831. Both were baptized into Mormon Church in about March 1847 in Ohio. Traveled to Winter Quarters, Nebraska, 1847; Kanesville, Iowa, 1848; and Utah, 1850. Worked as a farmer and blacksmith, and served in ecclesiastical and civil positions. Lived in the following places in Utah: Provo; Sanpete County, near Mt. Pleasant; and Heber. Practiced plural marriage.
