Middleton family.
Prominent South Carolina family. Nathaniel Russell Middleton (1810-1890) was a Charleston, S.C. plantation owner, South Carolina state Representative, and president of the College of Charleston. One of his daughters was Alicia Hopton Middleton. A cousin, Oliver Hering Middleton (1845-1864), was the son of Oliver Hering Middleton (1798-1892); Oliver the younger died in action at Matadequin Creek (Va.) on May 30, 1864.
