Tanzania Assistance Committee.

Hide Profile

TAC was formed in 1964 by boards and agencies from around the world who supported the Lutheran churches in Tanzania. In 1967, TAC directed its monies toward the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) which was established through the merger of seven Tanzanian Lutheran churches. The U.S.A. National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (USANC) and the Lutheran Church in America's Board of World Missions were members of TAC from its beginning. Funds and personnel were solicited for four synods and dioceses of the ELCT from the nine boards and agencies which participated in TAC.

The organization was discontinued in 1973 as the Lutheran Coordination Service took over Tanzanian mission responsibilities.
