Tewksbury, Elwood G., 1865-1945.

Elwood G. Tewksbury was a missionary and college teacher in China. He and his wife and two sons were besieged in the British legation during the Boxer Rebellion. One of Elwood's sons was Donald George Tewksbury (b. 1894), who later became a professor of Comparative Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Elwood's other son, Malcom Gardner Tewksbury, authored two textbooks on speaking Chinese.
