Robert Stephen Adamson

Robert Stephen Adamson (1885-1965), botanist, was born in Manchester in March 1885, and educated at Kelvinside Academy, Glasgow; Edinburgh University; and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He was lecturer in botany at Manchester University, 1912-1923, Professor of Botany at the University of Cape Town, 1923-1950, and President of the Royal Society of South Africa, 1946-1948. He died on 6 November 1965.
