William H. Brodnax, a lawyer, served as a brigadier general of the Virginia militia and as a representative to the House of Delegates from Greenville (1818-19) and Dinwiddie (1830-33).

William Henry Brodnax (1786-1834), was born in Brunswick County, Virginia; he was the son of William B. Brodnax, a lawyer. Brodnax was educated to the House of Delegates and served from 1818-1819 as a representative from Greenville. He then returned to his very successful practice of law. He was again elected to the House of Delegates in 1830, from Dinwiddie County, and re-elected each year until the year before his death. In addition to his service in the General Assembly, he was a member of the Constitutional Convention which met in Richmond in 1829-1830. Though a Whig, he was a staunch supporter of states' rights. In 1824 he was appointed Brigadier-General of the militia, a position he retained for the remainder of his life.
