Carl Burger (1888-1967) was an American author and illustrator of books for children and young people. He illustrated several works of natural history and created large murals for the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium.

Carl Burger was born in Maryville, TN in 1888. He attended Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee and Stanford University. He graduated from Cornell University with a Batchelors of Architecture in 1912. He also studied for three years at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He served in the US Army from 1917 to 1920. Burger served as art director for several advertising firms. He also worked as an artist, writer, and illustrator of books and magazines. His work as an artist included large murals for the Bronx Zoo and the New York Aquarium. He died in 1967. Biographical Source: Something About the Author, v. 9, p. 27.
