Recognizing the need for poetry in our lives, the Oregon Poetic Voices Project created a comprehensive archive and sound library of poetry readings from across the state of Oregon. Included in the collection are collected and archived recordings from the Fishtrap Writers' Gathering in Wallowa County, OR, collected by Rich Wandschneider (1988-2010); Over fifteen years of weekly interviews conducted by Barbara LaMorticella and Walt Curtis at KBOO radio (1987-2006); Sandra Williams's Mountain Writers project (2009-2012); Spare Room reading series (2010-2012); Ledding Library's Milwaukie Poetry Series (2007-2009); Satyricon poetry readings (1984-1985); as well as collected recordings by OPV staff of individual poets from around the Northwest. As a comprehensive collection the archive contain recordings of almost every significant Oregon poet of the last quarter of the twentieth century, along with a good selection of recent innovators and creative spirits in the increasingly diverse world of Oregon poetry. The OPV project was funded by the Library Services and Technology Act FFY2010, and led by Doug Erickson and Melissa Dalton.
