Born March 16, 1860, in Brock Townsip, Ontario, Canada, to Winthrop and Laura (Moore) Johnson. Charles N. Johnson attended Port Perry High School in Ontario, received his L.D.S. from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, Toronto, in 1881, and his M.D.S. from the same school in 1921. Johnson received his D.D.S. from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1885. He married Fannie Patterson on March 7, 1883, and they had two children. Johnson practiced dentistry in Chicago and was the Dean of Students, Professor of Operative Dentistry, and Dean of the Chicago College of Dental Surgery. In addition, he served as the editor of the Dental Review (1902-191), and of the Journal of the American Dental Association (1926- ), of which he also served as president in 1935. Johnson died July 17, 1938, in Chicago.
