McAndrew, James William, 1862-1922
Variant namesJames William McAndrew (b. June 29, 1862, Pennsylvania-d. April 30, 1922, Washington, D.C.), Major General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1888. He served in the Sioux Indian Campaign, in Cuba and the Philippines, and with a regiment in Alaska. He also served in France during World War I, was Chief of Staff, American Expeditionary Forces, and ended his career as Commandant, General Staff College.
