Hide Profile

Mary Beatrice Fox (1876-1976) was the daughter of Sarah Mary Baker Fox and Charles James Fox (1835-1922), son of photographer Charles James Fox (1812-1872). She attended the University of California and was a friend of the future architect, Julia Morgan. Her father, Charles James Fox (1835-1922) was an early landowner in Pasadena, California, having purchased part of the Sphinx Ranch from William Allen, part of Kinneloa Mesa from Abbot Kinney, and land from homesteader Carlos Cruz. The Fox family home was built on the edge of Eaton Canyon, and in later years the property was subdivided and Mary Beatrice Fox sold land to Los Angeles County for Eaton Canyon Park.
