Williams, Dorothy (Dorothy Duncan Bird), 1921-
Dorothy Bird Williams was born in 1921 and grew up in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, N.C. Most of her time as a youth was spent with school and church. After high school graduation, Ms Williams worked at Kress's, and later Belk's. She graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. and married for the first time during her senior year. Her husband was killed during World War II, leaving her with a young son. She later married Earl Williams and became a teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system.
