Professor and economist, Ruth Prince Mack (1903-2002) attended Barnard College (B.A. 1923) and Columbia University (M.A. 1932, Ph.D. 1936). She served on the research staff of the National Bureau of Economic Research (1941-1967) and taught economics at a number of universities including Columbia, City University of New York, and the New School for Social Research. Beginning in 1967 Mack served as director of economics studies at the Institute of Public Administration in New York City. She was the author of numerous articles and books, including The Flow of Business Funds and Consumer Purchasing Power (1941) and Planning on Uncertainty: Decision Making in Business and Government Administration (1971). Following the death of her first husband, Lee Adam Gimbel, in 1930, she married Edward Clarence Mack, an English professor at City College of New York. They had a daughter, Mary Lee Ingbar, and a son, John.
