Born in Detroit, Leroy Mitchell moved to Ghana, West Africa in 1965 and taught art there for twenty years before returning to the States. A graduate of Wayne State University, Mr. Mitchell also studied at the Society of Arts and Crafts. He is the author of Africa, come back. He received the highest civilian honor in Ghana, the Grand Medal-Civil Division, in 1985. The medal was presented by one of Mitchell's former students, Chairman Jerry Rawlings, former head of state in Ghana. (blue index cards)
