Max Berg was an Oregon journalist and labor activist. He was born in Kellogg, Idaho and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1950. He graduated from Portland State University in 1961 and served as political editor of the Portland Reporter around 1964. A political activist, he served as a union organizer for the United Paper Makers and Paper Workers, AFL-CIO; the Oregon Education Association; and as the last president of the Portland Newspaper Guild.
