Walter Louis Curtis was born July 25, 1915, in Ahoskie, N.C. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1937 then transferred to U.S. Navy in 1946. He advanced to the rank of rear admiral in 1965. He served as Chief Staff, Aide to Commander of the First Fleet from 1963 through 1964. Curtis died on April 11, 1984.
