Morey, Lois M.
Lois M. Morey (1901-1998) was born in the Black Hills and received her early education in Crawford, Nebraska. Upon completing a course of teacher's training at colleges in Nebraska and Colorado, she taught in public schools in Colorado. In 1942 the chance for higher salaries and new challenges attracted her to Alaska. There she briefly worked in the Anchorage personnel office of fish packer Libby, McNeill & Libby. When the company transferred her job to Seattle she resigned in order to remain in Alaska, and once again took up teaching. In 1951 she was appointed to a supervisory position in the Alaska Department of Education, in which she served until her retirement in 1961.
