D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville (Ky.), with a dissertation on Isaac T. Tichenor (1825-1902), president of Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical College (now Auburn University), 1872-1882, and secretary of the Southern Baptist Convention's Home Missions Board, 1883-1900.
