Harold W. Dodwell was a United States (U.S.) soldier and prisoner of war during WWII. Private First Class Harold W. Dodwell was captured during the invasion of Salerno, Sicily (September 11, 1943); transported to Stalag VIIA; and then, to Stalag IIB at Hammerstein in present day Poland where he remained until January 29, 1945. Dodwell was evacuated and stayed until April 12, 1945, traveling around northeastern Germany until being freed by elements of the 5th Armored Division and sent to Camp Lucky Strike in France.
