Trocaire College (Buffalo, N.Y.)
Private, co-educational liberal arts college established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1958 to educate religious women. Originally named Sancta Maria Junior College. The program was expanded in 1965 to include lay women, offering concentrations in liberal arts, nursing, executive secretarial, and medical secretarial. In 1967, the name was changed to Trocaire College (Trocaire is the Gaelic word meaning "mercy"). Male students were admitted in Fall 1972.
