Mary E. Malcolm graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1921 with a B.A. in music. She pursued a Master's degree at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (Rochester, NY), graduating in 1945. She also studied in Paris, France under Nadia Boulanger. Ms. Malcolm was a professor of music at the University of Minnesota from 1922 until 1967, when she had reached the mandatory retirement age of 68.
