Auerbach, Samuel H., 1847-1920
Samuel Hillel Auerbach, of Jewish descent, was born in Fordon am der Weichel, Germany, in 1847. In 1862 he migrated to the United States, joining his brothers in business as merchants in the California mining country, and eventually settling in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he carried on a prosperous dry goods business with his brothers.
