Our Savior's Lutheran Church (Laurel, Mont.)

Hide Profile

A group of families meeting together on January 16, 1924 organized the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Laurel. The first full-time pastor was Rev. T. S. Stockdal.

The congregation held worship services in the old Congregational Church and later purchased a building from the Ryan Creamer Company on Second Avenue and First Street. Worship was held there for 30 years until the building was sold to Grace Baptist Church in December of 1959.

Land for a church site had been purchased in 1955, and construction began on the new building in 1960. The first services in the new church were held on October 23 of that year. A new parsonage was built in 1965.

For many years the pastor at Laurel also served the Joliet congregation. In 1957 Our Savior’s became a one-congregation parish.
