Harold James Young, commonly known as Harold James Manson (took the name of his mother's second husband) was a rubber planter in the Federated Malay States in the 1930's. Born 7 June 1897 in South Africa to Scottish parents, he went to Malaya in 1919(?), married Alice in 1924 in Penang, then lived on a rubber estate in Malacca until 1929 when the family moved to Digwarrah Estate, Sungkei, where they remained until 1940. Taken prisoner of war in 1941 when returning from leave in Perth, W.A. He died in Perth on 15 Aug. 1977.
