Vaile, Roland S. (Roland Snow), 1889-

Roland Vaile served as University of Minnesota Associate Professor of Economics from 1923 to 1927, Professor of Economics and Marketing from 1927 to 1950, and Professor of Economics and Business Administration from 1950 to 1955, when he retired.

Roland Snow Vaile was born on November 23, 1889 in Nordhoff, California. He received his B.A. in 1910 from Pomona College in California, and his M.A. in 1924 from Harvard University. From 1913-1923 Vaile was associate professor of orchard management at the University of California's School of Tropical Agriculture and Citrus Experiment Station.

In 1923, Vaile was named an associate professor at the University of Minnesota. He was promoted to professor in 1927, serving as a professor of economics in the School of Business Administration. Upon retiring as professor emeritus in 1955, Vaile continued to teach for several years at Trinity College in Texas, being named to the Cameron Distinguished Professorship. He finished his career teaching at San Diego State College. Roland Vaile died on June 3, 1970 in Escondido, California.
