Ruth L. Popp, of State College, Pennsylvania, attended State College High School, graduating with honors in 1940, before attending Penn State as part of the class of 1944 pre-medical program. She was a member of the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta, Iota Sigma Pi (women's chemistry honors society), and involved in Women's Student Government Association (WSGA). She completed an accelerated pre-medical program at Penn State, married fellow student George Mosch March 13, 1943, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1947. After an internship in Pittsburgh, she and her husband practiced medicine in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, from December 1947 until her death in February 1950.
