Chapoton, Jean Baptiste, 1684-1760
Jean Baptiste Chapoton, son of André and Anne Cassaigne Chapoton, was born in Bagnoles, France in 1684; studied medicine, and became a surgeon in the French Army. He came to Detroit late in 1719. On July 16, 1720, he married Marie Madeleine Estève, and they had twenty-two children. He was granted P.C. No. 5 (the Charles Moran farm), June 18, 1734. He was burred in Detroit, November 12, 1760.
