Camp Carrington (Indianapolis, Ind.)

Originally named Camp Murray, Camp Carrington was established as a Civil War training camp and was named for General Henry B. Carrington. It was one of the largest of the twenty-four camps established in the Indianapolis area during the war. Camp Morton was a training place for Indiana soldiers until February 1862, when it was converted into a prisoner of war camp. Camp Noble, also known as Noble Barracks, was named for Indiana's Adjutant General.
