Dodge, Joseph, 1776-1849.
Joseph Dodge was a potter in Exeter and later Portsmouth, N.H. Born in 1776, he was the son of Jabez Dodge, the founder of the Exeter pottery works, and Lydia Philbrick, whose family was engaged in the pottery industry as well. Joseph's brothers, Benjamin and Samuel, were also potters. Two of his sons, Jabez and Samuel, were trained in the family craft.
