Joseph C. Ellers was born on September 15, 1959 in Morgantown, West Virginia, the son of John C. and Kathy L. Ellers. He was a graduate of D.W. Daniel High School and attended Clemson University and Southern Wesleyan. Active in both state and national politics, Ellers served as the City of Clemson's Investigative Council Staff Director, 1975-1976; Administrative Aide to State Representative Ed Simpson in 1977; national campaign staffer to President Gerald R. Ford in 1976; James B. Edwards Gubernatorial campaign in 1974; and senatorial campaigns for Strom Thurmond in 1978 and 1984. In 1981, he was appointed as the City Administrator of Central, S.C., serving in that capacity until 1983. In business, Ellers successfully worked with and founded several companies and marketing firms. In 1980, he helped to found Key Micrographics, Inc., which was a microfilm service bureau. With Nord Communications, a video production company in Greenville, S.C., Ellers served as Executive Vice President and directed all creative service activities. Ellers operates his own firm, Consulting Associates, who specialize in training for sales management, customer service, marketing and sales leadership.
