Wilmot, Leon C., 1914-

Leon C. "Wil" Wilmot was born in Worcester, Mass. in 1914 and grew up in Vermont. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutentant at Fort Bennings, Ga. and served with the headquarters company of the 90th Infantry Regiment in the early days of the 10th Mountain Division. Later, he served with the 86th and 87th Regiments and was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo.; Camp Swift, Tex.; and in Italy. During combat operations against German forces then occupying Italy, Wilmot received the Bronze Star for actions in the Apennines and Po River battles. Wilmot retired from the Army as Lieutenant Colonel.
