Butcher and tanner of Concord, Mass. Son of Timothy and Mary Wheeler. Born (Apr. 24, 1755) and died (May 12, 1813) in Concord. Father of Phebe Wheeler (secretary of the Concord Female Charitable Society and keeper of the "infant" or dame school that Henry David Thoreau attended). The administrator of Wheeler's estate was Joshua Brooks of Lincoln, Mass., brother of Concord lawyer Nathan Brooks.
