The Superfund Study Group was established pursuant to the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, section 301(e) (a.k.a. Superfund legislation) to determine the adequacy of existing laws and statutes in providing legal redress from harm to human and natural environment by hazardous waste. Minnesota Attorney General Warren R. Spannaus served on the study group as a representative of the National Association of State Attorneys General.
