Harlan, Charles T., 1817?-
Charles T. Harlan spent his early life in Berks County, Pennsylvania. In 1844 he worked in a store in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he hoped to marry Julia Ellen (Nell) Le Grand. Harlan volunteered for service in the Mexican War and returned to Vicksburg in 1848. When news of the gold discoveries reached him he decided to seek his fortune in California. He never returned and was last heard from in 1853.
