Kappa Gamma Psi, a national, coeducational fraternity promoting the performing arts in American colleges and universities, was founded on December 11th, 1913 at the New England Conservatory of Music as a national music fraternity. The founding chapter became inactive in 1968. By 1976, the sole remaining chapter was the Iota Chapter at Ithaca College. At that time, the Iota Chapter invited female students to join. In the 1980's, Kappa Gamma Psi expanded its scope to include all performing arts and it continues to be active today.
