Borda, José de la, 1699-1778
Variant namesThe Borda family was among the most important mining families in Mexico at this time. They made large donations to the Church and various charities. Borda was a very successful engineer, and, according to Humboldt, was instrumental in restoring production in the enormously rich Zacatecas group. His success in Taxco led to the building of the beautiful parish church of Santa Prisca.
