Charles Leon Hopper, Jr., was born on February 21, 1927, in Seattle, Washington. He was ordained to the Unitarian ministry on June 18, 1954, by the First Congregational Parish Unitarian, Petersham, Massachusetts. His ministries include: First Congregational Parish Unitarian, Petersham, Massachusetts (1953-1957); Executive Director Liberal Religious Youth,Boston, Massachusetts (1957-1963); Jefferson Unitarian Church, Golden, Colorado (1963-1976); UUA Director for Ministerial Education, Boston, Massachusetts (1976-1981); East Shore Unitarian Church, Bellevue, Washington (1981-1992). He served as president of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association, first president of the Unitarian Universalist Partner Church Council, and chair of the Board of Trustees of Meadville/Lombard and as a member of the UUA Board of Trustees. He received the UUA Distinguished Service Award (1998) and the Lewis C. Cornish Award for contributions to international partnerships by the UU Partner Church Council (2001).
