Tapia, Anita E.

Hide Profile

Lorenita Madeline Forster Weisenberg, born in 1925, is a direct descendant of John "Don Juan" Forster, (1815-1882) and Antonio Serafin Del Valle (1788-1841) two of the most well-known early California landowners.

The families were joined through the marriage of Josefa ("Mama Vieja") Del Valle (1861-1943) and John Fernando Forster (1845-1901), who were the grandparents of Lorenita Weisenberg. Anita E. Tapia utilized the Forster-Del Valle Correspondence (MS-R48) in Special Collections and Archives at UCI as her inspiration for her senior research project, which led her to Ms. Forster Weisenberg, the donor of the collection of correspondence and ephemera. Her course, an independent study in Chicano Studies, was supervised by Professor Vicki Ruiz of the UCI History Department.
