Latino Institute (Chicago, Ill.)
Founded in 1974 with assistance from Chicago Commons to develop links between Latino communities and the Black and Anglo communities. During the time period covered, the Institute focused on the development of community leaders and the issue of bilingual education in the Chicago public schools. In August of 1998, the Board of Trustees was forced to close the Latino Institute due to organizational mismanagement.
