William Brisse was born on March 22, 1923 in Worcester, Mass. He was raised in Laconia, N.H., where he learned to ski at an early age. Brisse enlisted in the Army March 2, 1943 at Fort Devens, Mass. and reported to Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to the 86th Infantry Regiment as a regimental ski instructor. He later served briefly with the 90th and 85th Regiments before returning to the 86th. Brisse was awarded a Bronze Star medal for his actions near Ravarino, Italy on April 21, 1945.
