Edwin Chase Hoyt was a lawyer in New York City until 1913, after which he worked full time on his "Crooked Hill Farm, Brentwood, N.Y." The address is now given as Commack rather than Brentwood. Hoyt purchased the farm in 1910 from the Wicks family who had owned it since 1740.
