Lee Burns was an architect, author, and community leader born in Bloomfield, Indiana in 1872. He attended Butler University. He was the founder of Burns Realty Company. By 1926, he and Edward D. James formed the architecture firm of Burns and James. They built many fine homes on the north side of Indianapolis. Later, Mr. Burns and his son, David, designed structures for the Indiana Fairgrounds, the Indianapolis Parks Department, and twelve fire stations, in addition to many private homes. After his father's death in 1957, David Burns went into business with August Bohlen.
