American journalist and author Susan C. Faludi was born in Queens, New York, in 1959. She graduated from Harvard University (1981) and later wrote for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Miami Herald. A feminist and social critic, she has published Backlash: The Undeclared War against American Women (1991), Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man (1999), and The Terror Dream: Fear and Fantasy in Post-9/11 America (2007). In the 1990s, Faludi did research for a book on Judi Bari, a prominent environmentalist and organizer against corporate logging in California's redwood forests, who was nearly killed by a car bomb in 1990; the book was never published.
